The 7th version of the ETU European under 21 Taekwondo Championships 2017 was launched in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The Bulgarian Taekwondo Federation (BTF) undertakes for the first time a European Taekwondo Championship and proved to be both effective and efficient in the first event, since they provided an outstanding Opening Ceremony followed by the first competition day.

The Opening Ceremony of the four-day event was honored by the presence of the WTF President Dr. Choue, the ETU President Sakis Pragalos, the ETU Secretary-General Michail Fysentzidis, the BTF President Slavi Binev, the Minister of Youth and Sports of Bulgaria Daniela Dasheva and the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Bulgaria H.E. Shin Boonam.

ETU President Sakis Pragalos proudly confirmed that the agreement between ETU and BTF for hosting the Under 21 Championship was the right choice, since the Organizing Committee is an example of dedicated work and the OC worked hard to bring taekwondo one step forward.

Continuing he added: It is a privilege to be honored with the presence of the WTF President Dr. Choue, with whom we have discussed the importance of introducing the Under 21 Taekwondo Championships internationally in the WTF Calendar.
