Iranian Kyorugi Squad Grab 4 Gold and 1 Bronze in 2019 summer universiade
The 30th edition of International multisport event, the 2019 Summer universiade, came to the end and Iranian Taekwondo student athletes grabbed 4 outstanding Gold medals and one worthy Bronze.
The 12-day event, which featured student athletes under the age of 25, was held on July 3-14 in Naples, Italy and some 6000 student athletes from 127 countries participated in the Summer Universiade 2019, according to the Public Relation's department of the Iranian Taekwondo Federation.
On 9-12 July, athletes in male and female kyorugi divisions competed in different weight categories and Iran’s Soroush Ahmadi, Amir Mohammad Bakhshi, Armin Hadipour and Mirhashem Hosseini collected the Gold medals and celebrated their victory, swinging their country's national flag.
In addition, Melika Mirhosseini in female individual kyorugi battle, achieved a worthy bronze medal and stood third.
Mehran Barkhordari, Erfan Nazemi, Nahid Kiani, Zahra Sheidaei and Parisa Javadi, the other five Iranian athletes in male and female kyorugi division, failed to secure medals.
Iran's male kyorugi lineup was led by Fariborz Askari as the head coach and Ali Mohammad Boshagh as the coach. Mahroo Komrani was the female kyorugi lineup head coach.
The Universiade event was a G2 WT-sanctioned event and the gold, silver and bronze medal winners garnished 20, 12 and 7.20 points.
