National Championship "Korean Ambassador Cup"
The XXXIV Taekwondo National Championships "Korean Ambassador Cup" of the Uruguayan Taekwondo Federation was held.
The event was attended by athletes from various parts of the country.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. Yoo, Han-Jun, Ambassador of Korea in Uruguay, highlighted the growth of this sport in Uruguay. The educational values of taekwondo, which are healthy competition and cultivation of the spirit have adopted by schools. Taekwondo being a sport helps to strengthen the capacity to make new friends and maintain social relations as well as improving mental faculties and concentration, developing polite behavior. "Taekwondo is an Olympic sport since Sydney 2000 and it will be in Tokyo 2020 Paralympic sport which fills us with happiness."
The great participation of women in taekwondo and what represented in the championships was emphasized.
