Hadipour and Amidi going to Rio Test Event

Rio Test Event will be held on 20-21 Feb. 2016 in Rio. 16 best ranked athletes of -58 kg and +80 kg of the male division and -49 kg and -57 kg of the female division have been invited to this event.

Iran is going to send Armin Hadipour in -58 kg and Omid Amidi in +80 kg according to the decision of the technical officials of Iran National team.

Bijan Moghanlou, head coach of Iran National team, said, ‘we prefer Ashourzadeh and Mardani who gained the quota of Rio 2016 Olympic Games in -58 kg and +80 kg rest to treat their old injuries instead of participation in more events.’

According to WTF rules, if the quota place of a country was obtained through the WTF Olympic Ranking, the NOC may enter athlete(s) who have been ranked within the top 20 of the WTF Olympic Ranking at point in time between December 2015 (published in January, 2016 Ranking) and June 2016 (published in July, 2016 Ranking).

In -58 kg, Armin Hadipour, ranked 25, is trying to mount to rank 20 in the remaining time.

In +80 kg, Omid Amidi, ranked 21, could enter the top 20 by adding only 4 points to his ranking.

Iran could totally gain 3 Olympic quotas in -58 kg, -80 kg and +80 kg by Farzan Ashourzadeh, Mahdi Khodabakhshi and Sajjad Mardani respectively.
