January 2016 Olympic Ranking Issued



World Taekwondo Federation published the Olympic ranking of January 2016. Among Iranian athletes, Mahdi Khodabakhshi, Farzan Ashourzadeh, Sajjad Mardani and Behnam Asbaghi have gained the best ranks in their categories.

In January ranking, 2011 points are totally omitted, while 75% and 50% of 2012 and 2013 ranking points are deducted respectively.

In -58 kg, Farzan Ashourzadeh stands on the 2nd place with 30.486 points; Armin Hadipour has ascended to 25th rank and the top rank athlete of this category is the representative of South Korea with 84.483 points.

In -68 kg, Behnam Asbaghi has the 7th rank with 51.246 points; Abolfazl Yaghoubi has risen to 12th place with 34.161 points and the representatives of South Korea, Belgium, Russia, Mexico, Turkey and Spain stand on the 1st to 5th ranks respectively.

Mahdi Khodabakhshi dominates -80 kg division with 86.408 points and Masoud Hajizavareh stands on the 5th place with 88.294 points. The 2nd to 4th places went to Moldova, England and Russia in this category.

In +80 kg, Sajjad Mardani mounted to 4th rank with 62.332 points after winning the Gold medal of 2015 Grand Prix Final; Omid Amidi also advanced to rank 21 with 48.136 points and the representatives of Uzbekistan have the 1st and 2nd ranks of this category followed by Azerbaijan that gained the 3rd rank.

Iran National male team achieved 3 Olympic quotas by Farzan Ashourazdeh, Mahdi Khodabakhshi and Sajjad Mardani at the end of 2015 Grand Prix Final.
