Yaghoubi: I Won’t Content Myself with Bronze Medal

19 year old Abolfazl Yaghoubi could enter 32 top ranked athletes of -68 kg during last year and got the permission to participate in Moscow and Samsun Grand Prix.

In his interview with Iran Taekwondo Federation, he said, “I had a good performance in Turkey until I was surprised by the technique of the representative of Mexico in Semi-final.
I never content myself with Bronze medal and try to have a better performance in GP Manchester using the experiences I received in the World Championships, Russia GP and Turkey GP.”

Regarding his difficult draw in GP Turkey he added, “I fought with the representative of Canada in my first match. I fought cautiously and overpowered him. In the first 2 rounds of the second match, I could not get any points from my English opponent. In the last round, however, I followed the advice of my coach and changed my fighting style which contributed to my win. Azerbaijan’s representative lost the match in the golden point round in ¼ final. In semi-final, I faced my Mexican opponent who was very tall. I could win him if I followed the advice of my coach but made some mistakes and lost the match.”

Abolfazl is determined to have a better performance in GP Manchester and do his best irrespective of his opponents’ achievements in previous events.
