Khodabakhshi: I Got the Gold Medal of GP on Weigh-in Day

Mahdi Khodabakhshi , -80 kg, could grab the Gold medal of Grand Prix, Turkey after beating the representatives of Spain and Turkey.

In his interview with Iran Taekwondo Federation, Mahdi said, ‘’the level of GP competitions is high and I had difficult matches. My Spanish opponent was wise and it was hard to get points from him but I found my competition with the representative of Turkey easier because my body was in a better condition.’’

He continues, ‘’I was shocked by the withdrawal of the representative of Ivory Coast in the final round. He had not mentioned anything about injury until he entered the mat.I was completely ready for the fight but he withdrew.”

He believes that losing weight was the most difficult thing he had to do before weigh-in. He thinks he got the Gold medal of GP, Turkey on the day of weigh-in because he had gained a lot of weight and tried really hard to lose more than 10 kilos in 22 days.
