Gold Medal after 659 Days Effort

The representative of Russia in -74 kg, who had won the Gold medal of Final Grand Prix, was beaten by Iran’s Masoud Hajizavareh in 2015 World Championships and Masoud could win one of the 3 Gold medals of this significant event for Iran.

Masoud worked hard from last World Championships in Mexico to claim the Gold medal of 2015. In his interview with Iran Taekwondo Federation, he answered the following questions:
*Everyone predicted the Gold medal in -74 kg would go to Russia. What do you think in this regard?
What I cared about was my goal, not what other people said. I heard people predicted Iran could win a Bronze in my category but I believed in myself and saw the result of my hard work.

*How was your fight with Algeria?
It was a good match which prepared me physically for other fights. I could win it 13-0 at the end of the second round.

*What about Albert Gaon?
He was shocked after losing the match but congratulated on my win and said referees did not give me a 3 point hit.

*You had to beat Russia for entering the final round. How was the atmosphere?
Everyone in the venue cheered Russia. In the final seconds, we tied but fortunately I overcame him in the golden point round.

*Tell us about final.
I had beaten Rafalo 3 times earlier. He was more stressful than me and I could overcome him and win the gold medal.

*How did you feel after winning the gold medal?
It was so sweet to stand in this position. I thank God and appreciate guidelines of the technical officials.

*After achieving 120 points you should be very hopeful to get direct Olympic quota.
Right now, I am among the 6 high ranked athletes in my weight category but I still focus on next Grand Prixes to gather more points
