Coach Certification, a Must

Starting 2015, any coach of the Pan American Taekwondo Union who wants to coach in a "G" event, must be certified in one of the "Intercontinental Coach Certification Courses".

The “PATU Intercontinental Coach Certification Courses”, their official name, will be directed to all coaches who want to coach in a “G” event, which means, all official competition sanctioned by the World Taekwondo Federation.

The president of the Pan American Taekwondo Union, Ji Ho Choi, referred to this initiative as very positive and said he was very happy that PATU reached a mutual agreement with other Continental Unions to honor and accept all WTF CU Coach Certifications in all of WTG G Ranking events.

The PATU Intercontinental Coach Certification Courses will be scheduled prior to various events throughout the year, similar to the usual referee refreshment courses.

“The PATU Intercontinental Coach Certification Courses will be scheduled prior to various
events throughout the year to standardize coach education for our region”, said Choi.

Europe has been conducting this type of certification courses for some time, directed by Chakir Chelbat, Chairman of the WTF Referee Committee and Philippe Bouedo, Chairman of the WTF Games Committee.

In the American continent, the first course will be held on Thursday, February 12 in Toronto, prior to the 2015 Canada Open, and will include topics such as competition rules, coach behavior, rights and obligations of the coach, seeking that all coaches have access to the most updated information so that everyone is on the same level.
