Taekwondo Session of 9th Youth Leadership Program

The taekwondo session of the 9th United Nations Office on Sport for Development and Peace (UNOSDP) Youth Leadership Program has wrapped up in a great success.
The one-day taekwondo event, which was held on March 25, 2014 at BLZ Kienbaum in Berlin, Germany, was part of the 12-day UNOSDP Youth Leadership Program, which kicked off on March 20 and concluded on April 1.
Under the title “Taekwondo – A Sport for Everyone,” the program drew a total of 25 participants, aged between 19 and 25, from 15 countries in Africa and the Middle East. Among the participants was one disabled person on wheel chair.
The Berlin event was promoted by the UNOSDP and organized by the German Taekwondo Federation.
Mr. Kai Moeller, director of the Department for Taekwondo in School (German Taekwondo Federation), who facilitated the program together with Mr. Stev Brauner, vice president of the German Taekwondo Youth Organization, said "The taekwondo session at the YLC Berlin was well received by all parties concerned, including participants and the staff of the organizations UNOSDP, GIZ and Right to Play International."
The concept of the UNOSDP Youth Leadership Program is to support young people around the world by providing them with opportunities to engage in sport as a means of contributing to the development of the society.
The next taekwondo sessions of the 2014 UNOSDP Youth Leadership Program will be held on June 18, 2014 in Bradenton, Florida, USA, and on Aug. 29 in Gwangju, Korea.
