I.R. Iran is Hosting 22nd World Military Taekwondo Championships

Sport has always had a significant role for the Armed Forces of Iran and its history goes back to several centuries ago. The oldest sports practiced among Iranian Armed Forces were athletic strength games and polo.

Learning Martial Arts such as Taekwondo became obligatory for Iranian Armed Forces from 1960s. In 1970, the first Taekwondo training courses were held under the supervision of Physical Education of Iran Army for 75 officers and high ranked officials. Now, Iranian Armed Forces have to practice Martial Arts several hours a day besides other exercises.

After the passage of half a century since Taekwondo entered Iran, Iran's Taekwondo has changed to one of the greatest powers in the World due to the efficient investment and management in the past 30 years. Iranian athletes grabbed the first standing in 21st CISM in South Korea and Tehran was appointed to host CISM for the third time.

Tehran is going to host the military Taekwondo athletes in August. Tehran has been the capital of Iran for over 200 years and is one of the most beautiful and modern capital cities in the Middle East with spectacular and historical sights.

Tehran has hosted significant Asian and World Championships several times and is now getting prepared to be a competent host for 22nd World Military Taekwondo Championships and leave beautiful memories for the participants of this significant event.
