Canada Open – Montreal 2014:

Preview and Day 1 Complete Draws

Taekwondo Canada is preparing to welcome the world to Montreal this week for the 2014 Canada Open. The 4 day international taekwondo tournament starts on Thursday and will host Canadian and international star athletes as they compete for important ranking points toward their seeding at the World Championships.

“We are excited to be hosting this year’s event here in Montreal as it is a great opportunity for us to showcase the caliber of taekwondo talent we have here in Canada, and get some people out to see some of the incredibly talented, homegrown champions from Quebec.” -Eva Havaris, CEO Taekwondo Canada
Every day of the event promises high-octane excitement with athletes from over 30 countries around the world competing in Sparring, Poomsae and Para disciplines.

The action kicks off on Thursday with the energetic and entertaining Canadian, Yvette Yong, World Military Games Champion, and who took home a bronze from the 2013 German Open. On the same day spectators can catch Montreal native, and 2013 World Championship bronze medalist, Jasmine Vokey.

On Saturday, spectators can catch a local taekwondo celebrity, Maxime Potvin, (from Club de Beauport in Quebec City) on the tails of his recent silver win at the 2013 Grand Prix final in December, and a gold at the US Open last year.
