Alexandrias Open 2013:
Azerbaijan, Egypt and Tunisia show their power



The 5th edition of the Alexandrias International Open Taekwondo Championships took place between last Sunday February 24th and Wednesday 27th at the Alexandri International Stadium of the Egyptian city.


124 athletes from 14 different nations and 4 continents took part in the competition.


A total of 83 male fighters representing 14 countries and 41 female ones from 8 nations competed during the 4 days of competition on the 3 courts that the organization set up. There were 4 categories in play: Cadet, which was decided on Sunday, Junior and Senior, which took place between Monday and Tuesday, and Poomsae, which closed the event on Wednesday. All of them used Daedo PSS (Protector and Scoring System) to help the referees decide the results of the matches.



The International Referees Committee of the competition was made of Aly Nour (Chairman African Referees ) and Mohamed Hosni (Chairman Egyptian Referees).

Azerbaijan ended up being the most awarded country of the event after collecting 5 gold medals, 5 silver and 1 bronze. Egypt with 3 golds, 4 silvers and 9 bronzes and Tunisia with 4 golds, 2 silvers and 3 bronzes were Azerbaijan’s companions in the final podium.
