US Open 2013 preview



The action of the US Open 2013, the first G-2 event on WTF current year’s calendar, started at Las Vegas Hotel & Casino (Las Vegas, Nevada, USA).

With almost 2,000 athletes from 75 different countries -including 33 Olympians- the US open contestents are ready to show their best Taekwondo skills to the spectators of the competition.

This year’s event, which will last until next Saturday February 23rd, will be divided into 5 age categories for both the Kyorugi and the Poomsae competitions: Youth (10-11), Cadet (12-13), Junior (15-17), Senior (18-32) and Ultra (33+). All of them will use Daedo PSS (Protector and Scoring System) to help the officials deciding the final score of the matches.

Tuesday Februrary 19thwill be the day for all Poomsae divisions to be completed, while the Youth (10‐11), Cadet (12‐14) and Ultra (33+) Kyorugi categories will be decided on Wednesday. On Thursday February 21st, four Female Senior Kyorugi divisions (Under 62Kg, 67Kg, 73Kg and +73Kg) and other four Male Senior Kyorugi modalities (Under 54Kg, 58Kg, 63Kg, 68Kg) will take over the entertainment, leaving the rest of the Female Senior Kyorugi categories (Under 46Kg, 49Kg, 53Kg, 57Kg) and Male Senior Kyorugi divisions (Under 74Kg, 80Kg, 87Kg and +87Kg) for Friday. Saturday has been the chosen day for all Junior (15‐17) Kyorugi draws to be held.
